    Hi,

If I go on a 3 day week, am I entitled to any 'dole' payment? I have never signed on before, earning fairly good money for the last 15+ years

Similarly- what if I go on a 4 day week?

    Thanks!

As far as I know, and I'm fairly certain, you can claim for the other two days

    Hi- Thanks for the replies.

Any idea how much €€€ we are talking about for the two days dole? Thanks!

The dole is what E198 or something like that? Divide it by 5 to get the daily rate and the multiply that by the days you will be claiming for

Nope - full JB is now €204.30 per week - which is 6 days. Works out at €34.05 per day. So €34.05 x 3 days = €102.15.

8 or 9 of us in work are on 3 day weeks, some of them are since september. They get ( I havent got my first payment yet) €79.80 a week (up to the start of this year, few cent more now I assume) for 2 days not worked, not 3.

€204.30 is the full rate for JB. The vast majority of people will be awarded at this rate.

You and your colleagues are probably on systematic short time - which is calculated over a 5 day period(not the usual 6 days). This is awarded when your employer gives you a definite return date for returning to full time employment.

So in your that case it €204.30 per 5 day week. Which is €40.86 per day. So I assume you are getting paid for the remaining 2 days = €81.72.

We are all on indefinate 3 day weeks. If and when there is work we will be back to 5 days.

Well then you have all been put on the wrong scheme. If you have no definite return date, you should not be on systematic short time. Tax wise I believe it is better for you, but you can ask to get your claim re-assessed. It's just a question of the welfare office sending out forms to your employer. No biggie, and all claims rated as systematic should be reviewed after a period of time anyway.

If you work a 3 day week is there a limit to what you may earn before you are entitled to 3 day benefit?

Can anyone supply a link with information of the above please

    Heres one for yas all.

How would you apply for this?

Like what forms etc etc. Obviously if you sign on you need a P45, but if you are working then what do you get?

You'll need to get a form from your Social Welfare office (or they've now put em online, check Victors thread here). I think you have to get your employer to sign and stamp a form each week stating what you worked that week.

I'm assuming there'll be a lot of people getting this "Supplementary assitance" with employers cutting hours. There may be problems though if you work in the kind of place where you might get a call to cover sick or holidays or if it's a particuarly busy day/weekend/week and your boss says "I've more work , can you come in?"

I don't know how the latter works to be honest but it happened me a lot before and therefore I didn't bother trying to get this supplement payment.
But I'd urge anyone and everyone to at least apply for it - the worst is a refusal

is it not fact that if u have more than 2k in the bank they will not give u anything. so if u been earnin for 15yr u should have a bit in reserve so maybe u should check this out. im not 100% but i can rem a while back trying to get some dole but was refused as i had over 2k in bank. thankfully i didnt need it in the end.

I'm not sure. I've heard from a friend who was means tested that he was asked to provide bank statements. To be honest I'd say they've no footing to demand bank statements, they can ask but you can also tell em no.
