Seems useful but it limits you to dives, you can't pull back.

It looks like Kahler have come up with a more versatile system... again :pac:

I had one on a Wolfgang a few years ago. Never really used it, took it off actually, but it does what it says (sort of). Its not 100% accurate, it'll drop you roughly to D but you'll still need to fine tune.

Not much more to say...if you really have the need to drop to D and back up again I suppose they might be useful. Bit of a gimmick imo.

Multiple guitars ftw! Its a valid excuse to enlarge the collection! Although I only have one Floyd Rose and it is in standard always, as I find them bloody annoying. Simple hard tails are my bridge of choice and I can't see that changing.

How flipping hard is it to just go dueeerroooowwwwang down to D when you need to?!

On a guitar with a double locking tremolo, it takes bloody ages to change tuning! Taking off lock nuts, de-tuning, balancing and re-tuning the whole set-up, putting back on the lock nuts, re-tuning, then away you go!
De-tuna or others like it pop that string down D with a flick of the wrist without the need to mess around, so theoretically at least it could be done mid song. Although I reckon the tuning wouldnl't be exact.

Oh I see... I missed the whole locking trem bit. They tend to go over my head.

My vote goes to the ibanez zero-point trems. Double locking, dives and rises AND none of this tuning pants.

Or at least, that's the theory. I've heard that despite the good intentions, they're actually crap :o.

My vote goes to the ibanez zero-point trems.
The zero-point isnt a trem, its a spring system that puts extra tension on the trem. It makes the trem stiffer and gives it a weird clunk in the balance zone. I don't like them, they're removeable thankfully.

I'll take an old Lo-Pro or Edge-Pro over the current Ibanez trems any day.

Is it possible to relace the Edge Zero with the Edge Pro???

Not getting the Edge Zero thing just yet!! Kinda ruins the new J Custom.

You can just remove that zero-point bar (ie with the two outer springs), and the trem goes back to free-floating.

You can also fit locking screws into the trem posts, so you can lock them (after you've set height). They lock the post down onto the body insert, the same as the old Edge/Lo-Pro Edge. Bit of a hassle that you have to do it yourself, but its one of the first things i'd be doing.

Locking screws....where do i get those from. No idea......i prefer the old Edge Pro. So the zero-point bar is coming off and then the locking screws......

They should come with the guitar, in with the case candy. With the regular RGs, they leave the locking screws in a bag in the case, you have to remove the trem posts/studs yourself, and install the locking screws from the underside.

That's a lot of feckin' around to install a feckin' drop D yoke that i might only use once. I have a Kahler on one of my axes and i am not doing that.

If you're only going to use it once, why would you think of installing it?

I am not. I like the idea of having a Kahler bridge.....a bit different than the other gear.
