I went to a few of the LARP training sessions that run in St Anne's park in clontarf in dublin. I believe they are on a sunday. But its been a long long time since i was there and im not sure if they run anymore.

Now they are not the larp group Armengar, They mainly only train for events that run in the UK i believe its called lorien trust or something to that effect if you google LT Larp you'll probably get it.

but i can promise you its fantastic fun. I was a relative newbie when in comes to LARP'ing (rubber swordry or otherwise) and they all made me feel quite welcome. best buch of guys and gals i had the pleasure of larp'ing with.

Unfortunately i had to move away from dublin and i wasnt able to make it anymore so i couldnt tell you if they run the training sessions anymore or not.

Actually, as far as I know, they are the remnant of that group, or some of it. I know there was a group in the LT from a place called Armengar anyway and that it contained a number of these people.

Also, for the non rubber sword larp there's the camarilla (camarilla.ie, just join the forums). They do play in Ireland (well, Dublin and Maynooth at the moment), but unfortunately (or not, depends on your point of view), there's no hitting people with sticks.

Oh, and glad to hear you enjoyed the con.
