Nothing much to say, just a new firmware out if you haven't already seen it.
    Change History

Changes made from version 2.50 to 2.60:

    • Fixed occasional issue with Edge shutting down when scrolling through Saved Rides.
    • Fixed occasional issue with Edge shutting down when Mode button was pressed while following a Course.
    • Fixed issue where user could not change vertical zoom scale for a Course profile.
    • Fixed a problem where indoor rides in History could slow down access to Where To? menu.
    • Fixed issue with Advanced Workouts not showing up under Today when the workout is scheduled for the current day.
    • Fixed issue where sometimes the most recent History would not be written out to XML until disconnecting and reconnecting USB.
    • Corrected the Average Power value shown for Entire Ride in History.
    • Removed filtering from power data stored in History files.
    • Made some corrections to the Polish and Portuguese languages.
    Cheers :)

They still haven't fixed all the "occasional" shut downs. I've had mine less than a week and it has happened twice.

I haven't experienced any problem with it and i 've done around 350kms with it.

What i haven't found is how to update the maps. I 've got a City Navigator Europe NT sd card with the gps that i can not register or find an update for them. Any ideas? :)

It should just be a matter of loading the SD card into the device and off you go. There was a map option in settings which allows you to select the maps too so it might just be defaulting back to the base maps.

As Ryaner says you probably just need to select the map in the settings.
Fixed issue where sometimes the most recent History would not be written out to XML until disconnecting and reconnecting USB.

I haven't had any "occasional" shut off issues but I have had an issue where the XML for a ride is written all mixed up and I've had to manually correct it in a text editor. E.g. you have 5 ride segments and it records them something like this: 1 5 2 3 4. This fecked up my Dublin-Galway-Athlone ride as well as my ascents of the Tourmalet and the Galibier. Appears to happen when you use laps, or turn off the unit in the course of a ride, or try to recharge it during a ride. This fix might address that.

The few times I've plugged it in without turning off after a ride, it does pop up saying something about writing xml. My guess is this fix relates to and older problem where the most recent ride wasn't saved to the file system until power off or resetting counters.

The shutdowns I've had have been more where the unit just powers off the displays like it has shut down. The two Garmins I've had in my car have frozen in similiar fashion just with screen staticly powered so I'd guess it is more than a single OS fault.

I went to garmin website and found the map update, put my garmin's s/n and got a
Available map updates for your Edge® 705:
    No available updates found.

    :D
How often would you say there is a map update? Especially in the city center it has a lot of things wrong, mainly the one way roads.

They update the maps annually but as far as I know you have to pay for the new ones.

They'll used to give you free map upgrades if the new ones come out within 3 or so months of buying the device. Might still do that too but don't expect the one way street thing to change.
