Can't download iTunes

I have a two-yr old Acer Aspire 3680 laptop with Windows Vista. I've been trying to download iTunes and all goes fine until the installation actually starts, then I get a warning message saying "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation", and that's it- no further options are given.

    What can I do???

    Run it as administrator?
(Right-click on the installation file saved to disk -> Run as Administrator)

    Hey everyone..

Further to the previous question, I'm now trying to uninstall a few programs I don't use to free up space (eg Skype) but get the same message about the system admin having set policies to prevent this. How do I get around this?

    Thanks in advance!

You can't! :pac: You'll need to contact your administrator to get these applications removed as you need an account with administrative privileges.

Who the hell is that then?! According to the accounts&profiles (or whatever it's called) section in the Control Panel my account (the only one on the laptop by the way) is an admin account. Help!

Right click on the Installer/Uninstaller and select Run as Administrator.

Thats my problem- I'm not given this option! When I click on the icon (Skype or whatever), be it right or left click, my options are uninstall, change or repair. So I click on uninstall, it goes into preparing to remove and then tells me that the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. Then another dialogue box opens to tell me that I do not have sufficient access to uninstall Skype and to contact my system administrator.

My account is an admin account yet i'm not prompted at any point in this to enter a password or anything. Also, when I try clicking on change, and then remove, I get a dialogue box saying "You must be an admin to remove this application. To remove this application, you can log on as an Administrator, or contact your technical support group for assistance". This is wrecking my head- I need more disk space! Please advise!

    Hi all,

I had the same problem recently. Turned out to be a virus\spyware.

If you download and run Spybot it should sort it out for you.
