    Hi all

I am yet another postgraduate on the dole, made redundant after 3 months in a job in December. I signed on yesterday, and I'm wondering how long it takes to receive the first cheque?

    Push pop
I was made redundant back in November and when to the social welfare office the next Monday (21st of November) eight weeks later I am still waiting!! If you are running low in cash you can go into your local Health Board (bring photo ID, proof of address and your PPS card) and they can give you something until your claim is processed.
    Hope this is some help!:o

IIRC if you're made redundant you have a 6 week period where you're entitled to no dole...which is fair enough if you've received a redundancy payment.

But yeah, around 6-8 weeks seems to be the average length people are waiting.
