    Hi,
UPC formerly known as NTL have increased their prices again with no prior notification from €47 to €49 per two months. They say this coincides with a VAT increase. The VAT increase only accounts for 19.4 cent of the €2 increase.
Their pre-recorded voice on their support line says they advertised the price increase in national papers in December.
NTL want a months notice. I believe I am allowed cancel with no notice period as they changed the billing on their service unilaterally with no express acceptance from me.
I intend to instruct my Bank to cancel the Direct Debit by which they are paid.

I believe this document covers me:
    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1995/en/si/0027.html
    and in particular this section
"( l ) providing for the price of goods to be determined at the time of delivery or allowing a seller of goods or supplier of services to increase their price without in both cases giving the consumer the corresponding right to cancel the contract if the final price is too high in relation to the price agreed when the contract was concluded;"

Can I cancel here and now and not have to pay them another €24.50.
    Regards,
    Mailman.

    Update:
I've found the original terms and conditions of my contract with NTL.
The clause with regard to cancellation rights is as follows:
20.1You may cancel the services without penalty in the following circumstances:
    i) if we increase our charges you may give us one month's notice to cancel those Services in respect of which the charges have increased irrespective of whether the minimum period oin respect of those services has expired. During that notice period those increased charges will not apply to you.
ii) ...stuff about content of services being reduced.
20.2 We will not impose any unlawful liability on you.

and I've got my signature on that contract.
