    Hi all,
Basically going to a friend's 21st next Saturday and I have to get a dress for it. I never really wear dresses, last time was debs:o and am working on a tight enough budget- about 50 euro. I am fair skinned, size 10 and about 5'5 if that helps in pointing me towards a good look:)

    thanks in advance:)

Monsoon is probably your best bet, they still have a ton of dresses on sale, picked up a few from 120-140 euro gone to 30-40 euro. They've a couple of dresses that are sort of stepford wives/bree from desperate housewives type: sleeveless, slightly puff ball skirts, thick belts, gathered just under the chest, would look fab with heels, curls and 1940s makeup: red lips, flick of eyeliner etc.

The other option is the more post-birthday party clubbing friendly plan :) Topshop have a few dresses in bright colours like this one http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=73419&parent_category_rn=61561&productId=983247&langId=-1 easily accessorised, throw a fancy pair of heels on with it and bright eyeshadows and bangles.

Penneys actually have nice dresses in sometimes. Have you looked there?

You could wear some nice accessories to funk it up like a belt or loud necklace.

raid the sales rubbish? I got a lovely dress in oasis recently 113 reduced to 28!

i sometimes see some nice & not too expensive dresses in red herring in debenhams, but sometimes some not so nice ones also. (just had a look online and they dont seem to have the greatest selection at the moment..)

awear had lots of pretty dresses in before xmas, you might get one in the sales, havent been in in awhile so not sure what their new stock is like.

also, there were some lovely dresses in arnotts in jervis street just before xmas (that used to be debenhams, not the main arnotts store on henry st - i couldnt resist and had to buy 1 :p), but i havent been in since so i dont know what the selection is like now.

theres loads of pretty dresses out there, i have to restrain myself from buying them these days cause i have loads i havent even worn yet!

If you live in Dublin/Kildare area, take a trip to the kildare outlet stores, I was there this week, got a fab dress in Karen Millen which was originally €240 and I got it for €40! it's a pity you didn't give yourself more time because www.asos.com is without doubt the best place to shop at the moment.

The best sales tend to be in Monsoon, Warehouse and Oasis, but someone mentioned penneys and I would definitely try there, they always have gorgeous stuff.

I totally agree. My friend tried on a 'Paul and Joe' dress in Arnotts about 2 months ago, it was €245. She didn't buy it. Last week she got it on the €25 rail and with her staff discount got it for a €10.
