so, who is going to be the stars of 2009? who do you think will make massive impact this year. player doesnt have to be a young lad, some years players who were average the previous years can come from no where and have one massive year.

from a kerry point of view, its hard to tell. i think darran sullivan could have a massive year, expecially with him being named captain (well, he will be next week).

Last year it was Tommy Walsh.
Year before it was Killlian Young.
Year before that it was Donaghy.

Tom Parsons and Trevor Howley will have big parts to play for Mayo this year presuming they stay injury free.

Would like to see Tom Cunniffe and Ger Cafferkey making a splash to

It's probably a year to early for last years minors but the goalie Hennelly, Kevin Keane and Aidan O Sé have all got talent and some game time in the FBD

Declan Brennan of kildare. If kildare go well this year he will shine, did a wonder job on tommy walsh in last years u21 final and has starred in kildares first two o byrne cup matches at full back.

In hurling from a local perspective I think this will be the year Jack Kennedy can really make the breakthrough. He's been knocking on the door the past few years but his amazing substitute performance against Tipp last year showed what he can really do.

I'll also be expecting one or two from De La Salle College to make some strides in the senior setup, although it may be 2010 before some of them really make the breakthrough.

Nationally, because of the extra games Galway will get, Joe Canning can really take hurling by storm.

Ciaran Lyng was great last year, hopefully it will continue. I am hoping that the returning Diarmuid Kinsella will be a star for Wexford. Gives the teams lots of options and should be great either in midfield or attack.

I expect Bernard Brogan to have a big year from Dublin. If Pat Gilroy and Mickey Whelan can get Diarmuid Connolly fully focused and I think they can, he'll be a big player for Dublin aswell.
