I saw this advertised somewhere and just did some searching. Dun Laoghaire Rathdowne council are having an event this Sunday in the Peoples Park from 12-3pm called the "Recharge Festival". It's doubtful I'll make it along, but if anyone is living out that way and is looking for something to shoot it could be an option. Here is a cut and paste from the site http://www.dlrevents.ie/family.htm

    Recharge
    Date: 18th January 2009
    Location:

    People's Park, Dun Loaghaire
    Time:

    12noon to 3pm
    Cost: Free

Misery is expected to peak on January 21st which has been pinpointed by experts as the worst day of the year.

In a gallant effort to beat the January blues, we are hosting the colourful Recharge Festival on Sunday January 18th from 12pm to 3pm in the Peoples Park, Dún Laoghaire. The Recharge Festival is designed to lift community spirits and make the most depressing day of the year a joy to behold! This unique one-day event for families to enjoy is filled with colourful street entertainment, giant inflatable games, bouncy castles, a children’s make and do corner, face painters and music. Children of all ages can take part.

Dr. Cliff Arnall, a health psychologist at Cardiff University, devised a formula to work out the worst day of the year and according to his formula, January 21st will be the blues day for 2009. His calculation is based on the poorest weather, debts owed for seasonal spending, the time since Christmas, the period of time before you abandon New Year's resolutions, the dates when motivation levels seems to be at their lowest and the timing for the need for action to escape the blues. As the first DLR event for 2009, Recharge is all set to beat blues day and set the trend for a great 2009.

The ever-popular CoCo Markets will also be in the park on the 18th.

Come along and join in the fun. Admission is free.
