I bought the led display down there a few weeks ago with the student discount. I was in belfast again yesterday and decided to call into the apple store to have another look. I decided to buy the in ear headphones but they told me that they can't accept a student card from the south anymore. The same person i bought the display from told me this. It looks like they're clamping down on this now.

I have to say i'm impressed with them so far. I'm by no means an audiophile but they compare favourably with my friend's bose in ear headphones. Plus the clicker works with the iphone and so does the mic. Unfortunately the volume up down buttons don't. All in all i think they are well worth the price.

If you buy it in Belfast, if there any maintenance problems do you have to go back to them or can you get it fixed in the republic?

Apple has worldwide warranty on all their products I think.

all portable products, so iPods, iPhones and MacBooks only

so imacs definitely don't have a warranty in the republic then ????

as far as i know, No, although i stand to be (hopefully) corrected, but i'm pretty sure they only have a worldwide policy on portable products and all others (i.e. iMacs, displays, etc) need to be looked after in the country they are bought in.

I hope for anyone buying an iMac up North i'm wrong but i don't think i am.... (waiting to be corrected!!!!)

A friend of mine is in university in london, there wouldn't be and problem with her using her student discount up north would there?

Up North is technically part of the UK so I assume they should accept a student card from any UK College/Uni.

all portable gear has a worldwide warranty and i THINK all the other stuff has a pan-european warranty so you should be grand buying up north warranty-wise
