Trilby: passing fad or timeless classic?

It's high time I added a 'proper' hat to my wardrobe, and a trilby has caught my eye. I'm a bit wary though that every indie kid going is probably wearing one. Hopefully I'm so behind fashions that this trend has now moved on to something different, so your thoughts/advice on the hat below would be much appreciated:

Epically indie. I think hat styles probably change more than most, so if you are looking for something that's going to last, I think a single colour look might have the most chance.

But then i know f all about hats....

    Epically indie.

Ah nuts. I thought the plain black would be epically indie, so was trying to go for the country gent look. Perhaps what I wear it with might help.
I've just won it on e-bay, but for less than €15 delivered I might go again.

What are people's opinions on newsboy caps?

The trilby seems to be the indie passing fad at the moment - go for a single colored fedora instead.. i swear by my black one!

I wasn't sure if the wider brimmed Fedora would suit me. Anyway last Friday night I went on-line shopping again, and this hat (amongst others) is also winging it's way to me:

    I bought my first hat - a grey/almost black trilby from M &S recently.

Still haven't worn it outside though:cool:

Meh. Trilbys were cool before the indiots got their mitts on them, they will be again after.

Go with what your heart tells you!

I had just ordered a black leather one, then googled "trilby" and found this post ;0) I like the shape of them, a big change from my usual beanie!

Is that a trilby worn by Charnier in the French Connection?
