Slightly off-topic, but... Light box to treat SAD?

I'm sorry that this is a bit of an off-topic question, but I couldn't figure out the best forum to post this in. Since a lot of people here are very knowledgable on health and well being, I thought this was my best bet!

My hubby finds that he gets quite down during the winter and bad weather, I wouldn't go as far as to call it SAD, but he definitly struggles with his mood. I've heard of the use of light boxes to treat this, has anyone any experience of using one of these?

He has seen one on ebay that is quite reasonably priced, but to me it seems quite small (maybe the size of an A4 page) do they have to be a certain size to work?

Would love to hear from anyone who has used one. TIA!

I picked up one in Argos a few months back for around €20 or so. The one I got is quite small as well - I genuinely don't think the size of it matters.

I didn't notice it helping at first, but soon found that if I hadn't used it in a few days, my mood was bleaker. So yeah, it did work for me. I've had a much more positive Winter than last and I definitely think the SAD light played a part in that.
