Hollywood is badly stuck for good actresses when she manages to get nominated twice in the same category.

Well Kate Winslet is seriously a remarkable actress given the standards these days. Her performance in the Reader is stunning, even if the film is pretty standard. She can elevate bland material to something much more, and when she has good material to go alongside her performance - ESOTSM or Little Children spring to mind - she truly is one-of-a-kind. One of the few actresses deserving of all the kudos.

if they came out in different years she should nominated in both atleast the bafta recognised there both leads rather then sticking one in supporting like the globes.

How was Farrell snubbed? He was good in IB but no better than Brendan Gleeson. Nothing special from either of them.

The ones nominated are more deserving imo.

Slumdog Millionaire, the British movie filmed in Mumbai, tonight emerged as the biggest winner at the Baftas winning seven categories including best film and best director.
The Film4 movie had been nominated 11 times and hopes are high for Oscar success in a fortnight.
In a night awash with British talent, Kate Winslet won her second best actress Bafta for her portrayal in The Reader of an illiterate SS guard who beds a 15-year-old boy.

terrible show - Ross was awful hosting

Two things I noticed tonight was looking at close up of Robert Downey Jnr when they announced Heath Ledger and his eyes were blood shoot like he was crying, i just put it down to he must have known Heath and got emotional that he had won the best supporting actor, then think it was when Gilliam was getting the fellowship award they did another close up of him and his eyes were still bloodshot like he was still crying, maybe he was on some medication legal or illegal???

Also when they announced Mickey O'Rourke had one best actor they showd the crowd from the front everyone was clapping except for Brad Pitt, I'd say he thought he was going to win it otherwise he probably wouldn't have bothered coming over for the show :)

why did they need to show some thing at the end, did they miss em in the break?

    Ok Rant time:

    1. We all know that Batman is a comic. We all know that some movies were made before that were somewhere between decent and muck.

    But

Christopher Nolan came along and made two magnificent films. The Dark Knight has been lauded by pretty much everybody, and yet does not appear in the best film category and more shockingly in the best director category.

    2. I'm getting sick to the teeth of every decent movie with a gay character getting lauded by the BAFTA and the Oscars.

    3. I don't understand why Clint Eastwood is not in there either for Changeling.

Right thats it, just had to get that off my chest.

If it was the internet voting, TDK would probably have won, yes. Sadly, not everyone in real life (for want of a better term) is that into Batman.

You mean Milk? Possibly for Sean Penn's excellent performance, the excellent script and excellent ensemble cast..
