Ok so I have read that if u voluntary leave ur job that u can claim but u get disqualified for like 9 weeks, does this mean u have to wait til atleast 9 weeks to get a payment or does this mean u will not recieve a payment for the first 9 weeks and this will not be backdated???
Also is there any way around this disqualification??
I have worked for my previous employers for the last 4 years.
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

so basically you quit your job? you'll have to wait 9 wks and even at that if you did quit,I think theres a chance you may not get anything,I dont think there under oblitgation to give you anything maybe im wrong.if you dont mind me asking why did you quit? jobs are really hard to find at moment.

It think its less then nine weeks actually.
And you are just as entitled to it as anyone else if you have been paying PRSI for that amount of time.
If you left on a good note they might give you a letter saying you were fired so you can get it quicker:P

Your payments are effectively delayed for nine weeks, meaning you should get the full term of JB, just starting and finishing it late.

It's not nine weeks - can be any duration up to nine weeks.
If you give them a good reason why you left such as getting bullied or poor health and safety conditions then they might pay you straight away.

So when u say delayed, that I will actually be backdated if I am subject to this disqualification and not be subject to no payment at all for the firt 9 weeks.

    Cheers

I ma pretty sure my reasons for leaving will be understood, I wont clarify but I have worked for the last 5 years since leaving education and would be shocked if I was out of work for 10 weeks max that I wouldnt be entitled to some the Job seekers payments...

    Cheers

Is this just some bitter and angry response or does it have any truth??

No you won't be backdated, but you will get the full 12 months worth.

Say for example you applied for it on 1/1/09, then they gave you a response to say you would get it but not until the 1/3/09. If i'm correct JB lasts for a full 12 months, therefore your payments would run until 1/3/10.

There might be some truth in what he says, but if you have reasonable grounds to leave, like those mentioned earlier, then you should be ok.
