The Evening Echo today front paged with the headline stating 11,000 join dole queues across Cork

What made me laugh was the headline beneath it:

...But there is some good news as 100 new jobs are announced for city

And that was over a three year period. 100/11,000 and rising. Not bad, eh?

An interesting statistic was that 1/5 availing of the dole are foreign nationals.

Am I right in thinking they'd be Social Welfare officers? :p

    Most likley. :pac:

A bloke rang into Cork's 96fm during the week saying he came across an advert the implied an abundance of available work in Poland but also stated "Irish need not apply". I don't know how true this is but it certainly didn't sound very freindly now that the tables are turned.

I don't believe it. Surely they'd be in some breach of EU laws and they'd get in trouble.

Although Polish people are probably sitting at home 'Feckin Irish taking our jobs and eating our swans'

I wonder how bad this is all going to get. I keep on hearing that we are about to enter a deep depression. Its the 'about to' part that worries me considering how much things have declined already.

Whats the Polish version of Boards.ie? If anyone knows polish we can find out pretty quick what they think of our swan eating habits the lack of jobs in Ireland and the Irish lads trying to get jobs over in Poland.

Quick, everyone grab the nearest Pole and make friends... they might put a good word in for us??

D'ya think if many Irish went to try work in Poland we would get a big friendly welcome and some welfare benefits.....im going hazard a guess as to say we would'nt. :pac:

Although scrap that, the Irish dont even give any friendly welcomes now because were all worried about foreginers taking our jobs. The Backstards

*looks over shoulder for foreginers :o

You know what's in breach of EU law?
Forcing the unemployed to get their money in a post office.
