E-Drums - Amplification and trigger module

Hi guys, quick questions concerning e-drums - if anyone knows or could point me toward someone/place in the know?

I am going electronic next week but wanted to get a few things sorted before I make any stupid decisions (I have been out of all things music-technology for about five years)

With regard to amps, would it be safe or possible to amplify through my bass amp? Im concerned about doing damage to the cabs with the higher-end sounds. I have an old 4 channel PA head and speaker at home which might also do?

Anyone know if the sounds are pre-programmed into the drum modules? The one I am looking at says it comes with a software kit that dumps the sounds into pro tools (and a list of other programs of which I have none)

    Many thanks for any help!

Use both. The bass amp will put out some low/mid bang and the 4ch amp/tops'll take care of mid/highs. Might do for practising & maybe low-level monitoring @ small gigs... U cud also just stick a piezo horn in (or on top of) the bass combo and it becomes a fullrange "keyboard" type amp. You can blow any size of system (without limiters) with edrums if you turn up too much for the speakers...

Thanks for that, I doubt I will be using them live anytime soon so I might invest in a dedicated roland monitor. Or sacrifice my old trace elliot :)
