Good hostel in Auckland

Can anyone recommend a good place in central Auckland? We might be stuck there for quite a while so trying to make sure we don't end up in a kip. We need to be close to the Queen St. area if possible as we're selling our van in the backpacker's car market. Also, we'd be looking for a double room as opposed to a dorm.

    Thanks

We stayed in the Fat Camel in Auckland. No complaints. About 5 minute walk from Queen Street.

There's a bar downstairs with pool tables and you can get meal tickets for the dinners and the beer was cheap I think. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm which was in an apartment setting. Dunno about double rooms.

The double rooms in base are alright, tv and fridge and shower in room. http://www.stayatbase.com/base-auckland-central-backpackers/

I stayed in the City Lodge which is about 10 minutes walk from the centre. It's called a hotel but more like a hostel. Cheap and cheerful but clean and friendly
