now before i get the eye rolls, let me explain.
i currently have a pair of genelec 8030as.i love em to bits.
but im moving from new york to australia.firstly though im shipping home most of my stuff(including my monitors)
so i can only take my laptop and my soundcard to oz.
i have a pair of headphones bu everytime i use them i think i making something great and i play it back and spemnd ages trying to fix it to get it to sound like it had in the headphones(hope you know what i mean)
anyway, while im living in oz i should be able to get acess to a studio but i dont want to have to spend that valuable time fixing what i though sounded good.
so im looking for a pair of headphones thatll let me create the elements without having to fix it then when i go to the studio.
is there anything out there thats suitable.i dont care if there the most uncomfortable headphones as long as they do what i want:D

not sure if I understand the question correctly but if you are asking if there is a pair of headphones you can use to do all your mixing without the need for reference monitors and have it sound the same on headphones as on speakers then the answer is a simple no.;)

    not really the question.
never mind the mixing, ill do that in the studio.im talking about lets say i make a leadline and nothing else.now ill have it sounding"right"in my headphones.now i dont want to go to the studio and discover once i play that bassline back on the studio moniotors that it sounds nothing like it did in the headphones.
now imagine if i made quite a few elements and went to the studio and it sounding nothing like in the headphones.frustrating to say the least:D

If you think that's a bit pricey have a look at these.

    http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD800-Premier-Headphone/dp/B001OTZ8DA.

They are the long awaited successor to the HD650 which I have myself, great headphones. Will be £1000 in UK.

    Sorry for going off topic.

I dont think its possible to get bass and low end frequencies right on headphones. Bass is felt as much as heard so its never going to match speakers is it.

I've had the 580's for about 5 years, similar territory to the 600's.
But they really need a good headphone preamp to get the best out of them.
I've also got the hd280's and found they're much more forgiving of what's driving them and the low end is more accurate without having to use a fancy preamp.
If you're worried about the low end, I'd probably pick a pair of 280's with a bit of crossfeed over 580/600's.
    imho.

Both need a while to break in.
The 600's are much more comfortable though.

theyll be connected to my rme multiface soundcard.im not too clued up on the technicals but would that have a preamp in it thatll give me a good result with those headphones.
the guy who recommended them to me gets great reasults with them(although he has alot of experience)and is the only real "proven" suggestion, meaning ive heard what he makes with them and it sounds great
thanks for the replies so far
