Broken external hard drive (need help)

A couple of days ago i let my external hard drive fall and since then it hasn't worked. The pc will not recognise the drive when it is plugged in and you can hear the disk clicking when it is powered up.
This wouldnt be a big deal normally but i recently stuck all my wedding/ honeymoon pics on it and as you can imagine the missus is going mad.
Does anyone know if these can be fixed or the files retrieved from it?

Sounds fried I'm afraid, pro recovery is expensive but may be what you have to go for if the Mrs is freaking out, budget about €800 to €1500. Don't plug in this drive in the mean time as the clicking you hear are the read heads hitting the platter. Surely you have the photos back up some where????

Pull the drive from the chassis and stick it into a pc and see if you can access it that way.

Might just be the case but sounds liek a borked drive :(

would need to check the unit but could be a simple transfer of casing issue.....could have damaged a connection and that might be why its not reading.

I can take a look at the weekend and max cost would be €130-150.
