Sky+ box question

    Just had HD installed and now have a spare OLD Sky+ box which I am going to use as a FTA box.

    Question is will the box operate without the hard drive - I was going to remove this and use for something else :)

    I don't believe it when the drive fails, let alone if you take it out.

    well the drive is useless in there anyway in FTA mode, cant record to it or access anything on there without a valid sub.
