Buying a PA system

    Hey all,

    Im looking to buy a PA system for gigging. We are a 3/4 piece acousitc band and will be playing in venues/pubs with 50-200 people.
    Can you one advise what sort of specs i should be going for?
    I have been told that its best to get an amp with twice the wattage of a speaker.. but if you have 2 500watt speakers then do you need an amp of 2000 watt or 1000 watt?
