benefits while on sick leave?

    hey,

    i am out of work due to a dislocated knee and am on a leg brace for the next five weeks. im still within my 6 months probation period at work and wont get sick pay. just wondering if any of you know wheather am i entitled to any sort of social welfare benefits while not working?

    any help would be great!

    If you have enough PRSI stamps paid then you should get illness benefit. You need to get a yellow medical cert from your Doctor, he should not charge you for this as the Dept pays him/her an agreed fee for issuing it. You will need to get one of these every week and post them off.

    Hey

    I have been off work now for the last moth due to the shop i worked in had closed down due to recession. I have tried looking for other jobs but havent seen any. I own my own home with my partner but were not married yet. he works full time, but i dont work now at all. Am i entitled to money each week form the dole? and how do i go about claiming this or what do i do?

    Possibly. Go to your local welfare office an apply. (Take all relevant paperwork with you when you go, including proof-of-address eg a recent bill posted to you).
