Hey everyone I'm starting to train for the marathon by running 3 times a week for the next few months. I've also started the starting strength program this week and was just wondering if the training for the marathon might stop me from going up the weights every session?

    Thanks for your help :D

Not an expert, but i'd say it wil. Id keep up d weights anyway, should help maintain the muscle you have.

Was wondering this myself, but i have no doubt that it would affect your weight training. How? I don't know. I'm just not sure thats something i'd be able for, and i'm not a heavy lifter

Think of it this way - you've got a finite amount of energy to expend in any given week. You have the choice how to spend it and depending on your goals for each (the marathon and weight training) you will have to prioritise accordingly. Making sense?

SS does put a lot of emphasis on rest days, sleep and eating clean. One quote I read regarding the programme was 'you don't get strong from lifting heavy weights but from recovering from lifting heavy weights'.

No doubt you could do both and see results, you'll probably get very lean at any rate but it might not be the same level of results.

Yeah I thought this might be the case alright. Guess I'll just have to eat like crazy and hope for the best.

Thanks for your replys appreciate it :D
