Resuming workout after couple of hours?

    Twice lately Ive had to leave early before finishing my workout. Im wondering whats the deal with coming back and finishing it off say a couple of hours later. Im talking about hitting the same muscles as I used in the first workout two to three hours later. Is there any benefit in doing the extra exercises I had planned to do or would I be disrupting recovery at this stage and be better off to just leave it be.
