Ok the boards ae full of doom and gloom but how about we post on some of the positives of the recession.
    1. Sales in shops, it's been a long time since there were such good bargains out there.
    2. Interest rates are low so mortgages have dropped considerably.
    3. Less of a demand for foreign holidays means that good bargains are to be had.
    Anyone have any more?

Maybe you should ask them which it is. If they're very secretive about it they're probably in the Mafia.

    (1) Seats in pubs.
    (2) Cheaper mortgage, cheaper petrol.
    (3) Expectations for those in my generation have been properly set re: borrowing, saving, pensions etc.

    The sense of unity.

The worse the recession becomes the "closer" the society will
    become.

    ie
People that dislike each other at work put their issues aside to deal
with thing that they have in common, that they are both bricking it
that they could lose their jobs.

    etc...

I have definitely noticed better service everywhere, banks, restuarants, customer service on the phone etc etc. Long may it last - the better service not the recession.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 237 ✭✭YDMHSSB

    cheaper petrol
    cheaper house prices
    lower interest rates
ireland returning to a country where we appreciate things and actually want to work in jobs that we earn less than 30,000 k
    price reductions in general
government shi*ting themselves cos they know there on the way out
    cheaper flights
as long as i keep my job, the recession will be excellent.

He'll do alot better than many others in this country will considering he is used to working minimum wage. Most people in his age group are not used to working in minimum wage without getting cars for their birthdays aswell(for being good).

The prats that were gloating that their houses were worth 30k more than when they bought it a year ago now realising that their house is only worth 30k and they got a mortgage for 300k - geez i might be able to buy it off them now that im a public servant :D

The new runway at Dublin Airport has been postponed indefinitely, probably saving the country millions of euro in fines for carbon dioxide emissions. Under the Kyoto agreement and the other carbon trading doo-whackeys that we've tried to forget about these last few years.

I don't know. People who have been laid off will have more social time but I think class begrudgery and anger will increase.

I remember hearing a story somewhere, might of been on b3ta, about some broke student who decided to live on porrige for a term because he was so skint. The doctor later told him it was the first case of scurvy he had seen in 20 years.

I got that, I just like jumping to extreme conclusions to annoy people =) Although it does seem like alot of people don't get it. Maybe I should work on it more.
