Another "Could I be pregnant" thread...sorry

I can’t believe I’m about to ask this. I have seen so many “could I be pregnant” threads on here, and I have always thought to myself, do people have no idea how you can or can’t get pregnant! And now I’m unsure :(

Here is the story. I have been on the pill for 6 years. I have never missed a pill, apart from the past month. I missed my pill on day 14. Stupid I know. I can’t remember exactly when I had sex, but suffice to say I did have sex a few times in the last month. I took my last pill on Thursday. I always get my period on Sunday. I got a bit of bleeding yesterday but not very much, and it had totally stopped by yesterday evening. I would usually have a 3-4 day period, with day two been the heaviest.

Could I pregnant, or am I worrying over nothing? I have a doctor’s appointment scheduled for Thursday anyway, so I’ll mention to the doctor then, but I just want to know am I worrying over nothing, or could there be a chance I’m pregnant?

(you’re all going to say, it depends on when I had a sex. You have no idea how much I wish I could remember exactly which days it was!)

Did you take your pill when you realised you'd forgotten?

Your period could be late because of a number of reasons, and one of them is because you're worrying about it coming!(so cruel, but true).

You probably know what I'm going to say next... take a home pregnancy test - then at least you'll know one way or another. They're pretty reliable, and can be taken even before your missed period, and even more reliable if you take it after your period was supposed to arrive. If you were bleeding, it's probably your period, no matter how light it was.

    Good luck!

Agree with previous poster - take a home pregnancy test, get one of the early detection ones - put your mind at rest.

Arent you supposed to come off the pill after 5 years of continous use?

No1 can be more accurate than a pregnancy test.

I was religious with my pill and here I am 36weeks pregnant. Will be going on something alot stronger after this I can tell you!

 That's really scary. What pill were you on?

(all the best with the baby btw)

    Mercillon

Not trying to worry anyone, many women may be on it and never had a single problem.

Every1 made comments about missing one, being sick and taking other meds, but I was always so careful, every day 5pm without fail! My gp and I were going through it and we genuinely cant understand it!

about the five years continuous use question - my GP says that used to be the advice but tests have since shown that you no longer need a 'break' from it.

wolfpawnat - did you have any episodes of vomiting or diarrhoea while you were on it that may have caused it to pass out of your system without being absorbed? Or did you take anything else (like an antibiotic or st johns wort) that might have interfered with it?

Ive been on mercilon around 11 or 12 years myself with no problems.

Thats why drives me crazy I was meticulous with it, no alternative medicine, no vomiting, nothing. I was not on anti biotics. As I said though, just because it didnt suit me doesnt mean its like that for everyone.

I would just like to say for the record that if you are a woman with a healthy reproductive system and you are having sexual intercourse, there is always a chance that you are pregnant.

You know the "pill" is not 100% guaranteed to work. It's up in the high 90's, you can still get pregnant while taking the pill but it is very rare.

OP take a test, nobody can tell you if you are pregnant or not. Worrying will make you delay your period, if you worry enough, you may miss it. There are more reasons to miss your period... Don't worry, get a test and it will tell you within a few minutes. Goodluck with it :)

Pretty unlikely if you just missed one pill but Take the test, though bear in mind that it is possible to get a false result very early on so get a 2nd pack and retest a few days later.
I was on Mercillon for ages too found I was very moody etc on it. The patch was easier but as it turned out contraception was masking PCOS which Id had since I was 17. Out on loads of weight, lost it all when I eventually got preggars (ended up 2.5 stone lighter AFTER giving birth than I was before I got pregnant)

Yes any healthy girl can get pregnant. What drove me crazy was people were demanding to know how it happened. Because they refuse to believe I was careful and meticulous with them, I had to have been sick or not take it right.

OP take a test, with Pills they can delay periods and sometimes you may skip a period without any known explanation

Just put yourself out the misery of worrying and get a pregnancy test.
Personally, I think if you've been as regular as you said you were, if you change the frequency, that will hvae a knock on effect... this could have changed your period.

    Good luck.

I have missed loads of pills and always been fine. (I'm not or recommending that this is ok by the way! ) I have been told I may have PCOS which can't be tested for while on the pill, so my chances of getting pregant could be much lower. However, lots of girls I know have missed a pill and have been fine. It's not a sure thing that you will become pregnant through missing one.

OP, read the leaflet that comes with the pills. When you visit the doctor, get a proper explanation for the poll you are using.

While I realise that you are trying to reassure the OP, whether you she is pregnant is statisticly independent of other people's experiences.

You cant remember what day you had sex, ask your boyfriend!
    Sure he would know when.

But of course the very first thing you should do is home test.

Im guessing you are avoiding it cos you are scared that it would be positive.
Tell BF to be in bathroom for you.
Why waits days for doc, get home test, whatever the result you can still go to your doc appointment to double check.
