Ok so the story is folks a phone was found outside my house before Christmas. Its damaged. I put up a notice in the local shop and haven't heard anything?

So I took the card out of it and got the files off (its a 2GB card and mine is only 148MB - I'm keeping it). Anyway the phone is wreaked but I'd like to get the photos/videos back to the owner as there are some I think they'd like to have (no nudes folks).

Chances are none of you will know either of the people in the photo but I've been amazed by AHers before!

Even if you dont know them you can still help ... how would you proceed?

how would you proceed?

By doing the decent thing in the first place and handing it into a Garda station. Or ring a couple of the numbers on it see if someone recognises the number being called and knows who owns it.

Would you not stick the sim in another phone and call home? Or if the phone is in good enough condition you could check the phonebook. Not quite such a good deed if you are keeping the card! If its microSD then a 2Gb card is less then a tenner FFS! Get your own

Upload all the photos and put a link on /b/ , they will find the two of them dead or alive no problem. Probably dead but at least you will know who they are...

You still havnt told us if the phone is in good condition. You said it was wreaked, which means to inflict vengance on someone, so I'm guessing its an evil phone. But is it wrecked?

Yes it is badly damaged.

I expect the owner to be able to tell me the type of phone and where they went on holiday.

call the network of the sim card and give them the serial number that's printed on the back of the phone or on the sim card. they won't tell you who owns it but they might be able to contact the person and give them your info, assuming the person was smart enough to get a replacement sim with the same number and didn't just get a new number

Why couldn't OP try putting the sim in another phone and get some contact numbers again?

Ok contacted Meteor and the girl was very helpful. She took my name and number and is going to pass them on to the owner - they have another number for them.

Dude, I'm sure you mean well but if I lost my phone and its contents I would rather leave them lost forever than have my photos put up on after hours for every freak and sofa masturbator in the world to see.

Was 1 picture (which I hosted elsewhere so I could delete) and going by the rest of the photos I'm sure they would rather have them back.
