    Hi All.

    Quick question to y'all.

Are there any jobs going at the moment?

I have a feeling I'm gonna loose my current job before June of this year.

I'm going to start looking now, to be on the safe side, BUT IS THERE ANYTGHING GOING ON OUT THERE!!?!?!?

Does anyone know of people going for job interviews for decent jobs and ACTUALLY getting them.

Or is it as everyone says "dry as a bone?"

    Thanks in advance.

I've been cut down to 3 days since last week, it's so quiet, I'd not be surprised if I was to lose my job in the next few months. I've been looking for a new job since October when I noticed how quiet it was.
There seems to be loads of jobs on the usual websites but when you chose employer only that number drops hugely.
I haven't heard back from any of the jobs I've applied for through the usual websites such as Recruit Ireland, Irish Jobs.ie etc
I have gone onto individual companies websites and they've all come back with 'we're currently not recruiting but will keep your cv on file.'
It's tough, there's thousands looking for jobs now :(

I'm currently advertising a job in the Leinster Leader for an IT admin role in Naas. Two weeks in the paper.... 4 CV's!!!???
Don't know if I can post the description here so I won't, but its for a decent job with a good description in the advert. I'm amazed at the rubbish response!!

People must be afraid to change or else there's lots of jobs in Kildare!!!

You can post it here, and I think it would be great if you did.

I think there are guidlines in the sticky at the top of the forum as to what should/should not be included.

I was just thinking the same (as the thread title) and nearly started one myself.

There are jobs beign lost in our place in Waterford and nobody is sure who is going to get the bullet, I'm praying its not me, but I'm also updating my CV and having a look around... definitely scary times.

Is there anything in Waterford in IT at all? Personally I think its very dry all over the world, but don't quote me on that sweeping statement ;)

Why does it have to be IT?
If you're desperate for work why not ask in bars, restaurants, hotels, shops, factories etc?

Significantly less than usual (January is normally a brilliant month for recruitment) and with a lot more jobseekers applying for them.

    It's tough out there!

Do people still use newspapers when looking for work?! You should post the job online.

IT is a very broad category. are you looking for development positions? database admin? networking? tech support? design? technical writer? consultant? project management? department management?
    testing?

Well I haven't lost my job (yet) but I have a BSc and MSc in Computing and X number of years experience in it and its pretty much all I know... So IT would be my first choice obviously!!!

I have no problem working in bars or anywhere, but I'm going to try for what I know first, then look at plan b until somethings turns up.

I hope I don't lose my job, its a horrible feeling no knowing and waiting for management to pull the trigger and see where they aim, but I'm just putting feelers out there and seeing if there is anything thats all...

There's some jobs out there. However as I've noticed trying to chase jobs in the Dublin to Drogheda area, when you go about ringing the employer or emailing in the CV as requested it's a different story. I've been told "Due to the current economic climate we cannot take on new staff" etc etc etc.

    Frustrating!
