Radio remote not working on iPod nano 4G??

Hey All, I bought a cheapo version of the Apple Radio Remote on eBay last week, and it doesn't seem to work in my 4th generation iPod nano. The remote itself works fine but the nano screen doesn't switch to radio mode when it's plugged in. I checked it on a friends older iPod classic and it works perfectly on that - anyone got any ideas why it might not be working on my nano? Is there anything I can do to make it work?? Any advice would be mucho appreciated! :)

humm i have a nano and itouch 2g, and i know the itouch has a new connection interface than renders nearly all cables other than one supplied useless for charging, the reworked the insides a bit on em, that could be the reason for the nano too as the both are timewise same gen?

Yeah maybe that's what they did - but does the port itself still look the same as the older gens? Cos my port looks exactly the same as older ones, and in fact the remote did actually work, and I could listen to music through it, it was just the radio itself didn't work...
