You wont regret it. I have a pair. Best investment I ever made...... even if a bit on the late side. :o

Agreed! I've had a pair for a year now and while it won't undo the permanent ringing in my right ear, it hasn't got worse since!

Dont suppose anyone would know where to get some in the munster area, i have some 40 euro plasticy ones, they have stopped me going deaf thus far but i find that they dont phase out the bass frequences as much as the high ones resulting in me hearing pretty much nothing but the bass guitar. Im a bassist myself and its livable with like but wouldnt mind forking out the dough for some proper earphones.

15's are good, 24's would be too much. They don't dull out the sound, that's the benefit of them over foam (which are totally ****e).

Any chance you'd ask Franky or whoevers running the place when you should come back to check if they're still good? I think I've had mine about 5 years now and I might need new filters. That is, assuming you're going to him!

Yeah no problem man, I've to give them a bell to confirm the appointment (stupid work) I'll ask him then.

(5 years?!?! so ur getting your moneys worth then lol...)

Yes. They are the different strengths. I have the 25's, though the 15's should be fine. Tell the man whose fitting them for you exactly the type of situation (volume ect) you will be using them. He should be able to advise which filter is best for you.

They dont so much dull the sound, they bring down the volume by X decibels depending on the filter. I can hear all the instruments in the band evenly, and clearly...... just at a lower volume.

Cheers man :) yeah, I really am, ha. The filters aren't as good as they used to be so I will more than likely get them replaced, you know what it's like... people knock into you, water/beer gets in your ear and the filters die a little :(

Ah, they do dull out the sound a little. Or rather, they don't block bass very well. The highs are still all there (unlike foam) but you still get a disproportionate amount of bass, some of which I imagine travels through your head. They are a hell of a lot better than the foam or silicone ones though, and definitely worth the cash. I got 15db ones, but I think I'd be more inclined to 9-10db next time.

They accentuate the Fletcher-Munson curve a little too, so there's also a perception of a very slight boost in the 4-6kHz range, and a dip in the low mids.

Playing drums is the only reason I can think of for getting the 25s, but I found the 15s were fine for that most of the time.

How much is a disproportionate amount, cause at the moment im getting crazy amounts, and its so bassy the notes get muddled together. Deffiaty be worth the step up yea?

Not too pushed about there price, after doing sound engineering for a while i came to the conclusion you cant put a price on your ears...

you cant put a price on your ears...

if you damage your hearing playing music, or put your back out from carrying gear, you will never make the money playing music to fix it....

By the way, there was a band palying around the country before Christmas, I dont know their name, but they all looked the part, as in spkiey bleached hair covered in tatoos..mid 20's, and had the very best of new gear. They cost 1600 for the night... and they were miming to a backing track. Id say 99% of the punters neither noticed nor cared. Im playing 20 years, and I only spotted it when I saw the drummer hitting out of sync a few times. The singer was singing to a fashion, but ontop of the original recording and heavily laden with reverb...and of course, they were all jumping around like Green Day...alot to be said for playing acoustic

I dunno... maybe 6db from 200hz down...? It's not a big problem compared to the foam ones in any case. They're fine for most things but it's still difficult to mix with them - at the very least you'd have to take them out periodically.

I have a strong suspicion that mine have dulled a little since I first got them anyway. Not sure if that's the filter or that the fit isn't as good now and I'm getting more occlusion. I'm long overdue to go back for a hearing checkup anyway. :o

Long story short: they're not perfect so don't have overly huge expectations, but absolutely do get them.
