Engagement Ring Valuations

    Hi,

I had read alot of the other threads about having 'foreign' engagement rings valued and contacted the companies that were recommended. I called ESL to find that you had to have the original certificate for them to carry out the valuation. Unfortunately I had lost this so they couldn't proceed with the valuation. What type of jeweller are they if they can't value a ring based on their own expertise???

Then I contacted a place in Clarkes to be told that it would probably cost €350 upwards if they were able value the ring. I have quite a few baguettes in the ring and this was what drove the cost up. And even then, they weren't sure if they could value the ring due to its complex setting.

To cut a long story short, I found a company called 'Diamond.ie', they valued my ring on Saturday for €150 on the spot and without any documentation. Lovely to deal with and didn't try to get any extra business out of our meeting. They also make rings which seem to be good value as the company operates in New York as well so you get US prices while buying from an Irish company.

Anyhow, just thought I would post this recommendation in case any one else finds themselves in my situation.
