BUYING I PHONE IN NEW YORK

my son is going to new york and is thinking about buying an iphone while over there, will it work back here and what does he need to ask for in the shop ie does he need to tell them that it needs to be sim free and unlinked to american phone system, any recommednations on best place to buy. thanks

nothing just did not see it, anyway i thought that it would be no problem buying the ipod in usa and having it jailbroken

That was true of the 1st generation iPhones. However, Apple now insist on you signing a 2 year contract before you leave the shop, which require credit checks, social security numbers and lots of other stuff to make sure you don't leg it.

Basically, forget it. Buy it up North and unlock it with yellowsnow.
