    Hi

I am not sure if I am posting in the correct forum but here goes anyway.......................

I have a feeling my laptop may have been hacked potentially over my secure wireless broadband. Last night I was on my laptop logged into MSN and suddenly I got a message to say that I had gotten an email from my mum but she asleep in the room next to me.....I then did something REALLY stupid i clicked on the link in the email sent from her BJ-Trade.com or something (the email was in connection to electronic products) but the page did not load up as I quickly caught my self on.

The question is what do i do now... obviously I will call the bank and let them know and change passwords etc but what can i do with my laptop to ensure that if it has been hacked I get the f*cker away from me

Any help greatly appreciated as I clueless about all things computer-y. I have up to ate anti virus software.

    Thanks

spoofed mail at the most, i wouldnt worry about your wireless being hacked, unless your using WEP security

Since the email came from someone you know the likelihood of it being spoofed is not that high, unless they harvested it from a public site where your mum might have linked your email address (or she forwarded you something from the net where both her and your address could become associated, you know one of those funny videos with a 'Send to your friend' type link). It's also possible that her email has been compromised and they emailed everyone from her address book. Check with some others in her contact list and if they also received similar emails then treat your mother's account as compromised.

Spoofed email. Don't over react. As regards Bank Details, unless your laptop has memorised them then don't bother. relax!

Its the malware you don't know about that is usually the worst. A good virus or keylogger won't notify the user.
