Rugby boots through airport security

I know this *shouldn't* be an issue, but you never can tell with airport security.

We're travelling over to London next weekend for a match and haven't booked any checked bags, so will need to bring the boots through in the carry on.

I know I made a joking response to someones question recently about bringing shoes as carry on, but my concern this time is about the studs on the boots and whether the 'security' people might see these as a weapon. I know that stilettos are more likely to be a weapon but still . . .

So, has anyone ever had trouble bringing boots through security at Dublin airport ? If necessary I can give the boots (or just the studs) to someone who is travelling earlier with checked bags, but I would prefer not to.

    Thanks for any advice,

    z

No worries at all taking books as carry-on but you should make sure your boots are clean(ish) in case your bag is inspected.

Kit and clobber for the weekend might make your bag too heavy, so pack carefully.

I organise my club tour every year and always recommend that those intending to play check in their bags to avoid any hassle in the airport (especially when returning from UK).

Best of luck in your game.

Just back - there was no problem bringing the boot through. In fact, there was no problem at all getting through the aiport. Our passports weren't checked at all anywhere along the way.

    That's good to hear.

    Did you win?

We drew - the team were the under 7s that played at half time during the Leinster game in Twickenham.
