I just bought a secondhand Macbook pro 2.2ghz with OS X on it. When trying to install software it says I need the password for the previous owners set up. I haven't heard an reply fro him on this. What can I do to remove his profile and details? I have the OS X discs, but is there an easier way than a total re-install.

Simply boot from the install disc and use the utility option to reset the password. This ( on reboot) will give you a new user account option, log into that with your new password and delete the old account and set up a new one for yourself, easy :-)
