Are you still engaged to the chap? If so it's a shame that you'd sell the ring. If not there is a pawn broker department in Breretons on Capel street.

jewellry mark up is very high. if they cost you €2K, then the most you can expect to receive from jeweller, is about €800. What about ebay?

or you could always hand them back to him!

im the guy, i took them back due to the circumstances of the break up. Was thinking about the ebay option. Suppose i could try a pawn shop!

Sorry i never made it clear i was the male in the relationship, Yes I asked for them back in the break up!

You're actually supposed to return the engagement ring if you break up. It's not like a normal present where you'd usually just keep it. An engagement ring is a contract to get married and since said contract was broken, you should really return it. Unless you are talking about the actual wedding rings?

You could probably try ebay or something but expect to get a lot less than what you paid for it.

If you look when the OP posted and when I posted saying to give it back - we both posted the message at 15:34 today so I wasn't to know ... I apologise to the OP for assuming that they were the girl.

Anyway OP - why don't you try the jewellers where you bought it from? They might not be able to take it back but they probably could suggest a decent place to sell it?
