People that use Boards

Had a conversation with a friend today about boards. I was telling him how funny and informative it can be and that there are threads on almost everything he is interested in. He said that there is a 'certain type' of people that use these sites and wouldn't be interested. I think most of us on boards would disagree that we all fall into a 'type'. The countless endless arguments that are always raging in the various forums would support this. Anyone here know any Boards.ie skeptics?

    EDIT: Fail title.

Even as a Boards user it has taken me a long time to realise that as well as all us nerdy geeky types on here there's also a lot of seemingly "normal" people too.

So I can understand why your friends might think that .. tell them to sign up and they'll soon change their mind though.. well... soon enough :)

I think on most internet forums most people would fall into a certain type, but simply because Boards has forums on pretty much every interest possible, there are people of all types on here.

Oh yes, a few friends of mine really hate this site. I'm not too sure why, I usually just move the conversation on.

No doubt people who never use the intenet feel the same way about him. Just as people on boards feel the same way about people who use internet dating sites... and people who use internet dating sites feel the same way about....

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

None of my friends use it.
    They don't get it.

The other day one of them asked me if I used it just to get into arguements.

I can only assume one of them read a thread where I was in an arguement over something stupid and thought that was the extent of the site.

I hate the way the opinionated are so opinionated.

I use Boards to catch up on sports results and the latest news with a little insightful debate thrown in for good measure.:)

It's fairly straight-forward. I've never met any illiterate people on boards. Have you?

Actually to add that, I usually find that these "certain types" are usually well informed as to the news, politics, their views and why they are such, of sounder mind in that they know that they either sane/nuts/both and not just winging moping wusses that wander around re-electing more muppets of the same calibre to government office!

    GO US!!!

Do your friends just hate all things internet or do they single out boards?

People I know fall into both categories so there isn't a 'certain type' that hate us anyway.

Question. Does this guy spend alot of time on sites like bebo, facebook ect?
At least boards.ie is a bit more of a constructive experience in comparison the likes of bebo/myspace/facebook/<insert_new_fad_social_site_here>

I think most people in here are like todays temperatures.... nearly normal.

Seriously, I know a lot of people who spend varying degrees of time in here.... then again, maybe that say a lot about the kind of company I keep.

These sites are quickly deconstructing thousands of years of human civilization.

Boards.ie is the last line of defence against that crap on the internet.

Who's to say that 'a certain type of person' who uses boards isn't the normal one?

Seriously though, whatever 'type' we are categorised as, I like it!

My friend doesn't use boards but says that the people on here seem really nice.

I tend to get my Irish news from Independent.ie. I thought it was the most up-to-date news source but having said that you announced a story about the shooting in Summerhill some four or five hours before it broke on the Independent online. So I guess Boards is as much a source of news as it is the exchange of thoughts/opinions and lighthearted banter.

maybe a "certain type" looks at porn sites

maybe a "certain type" does online dating

maybe a "certain type" does social networking

but boards is so diverse......all types are catered for

i think its one of the best sites around and i would'nt hesitate in recomending it
