    Hi Lads,

A very happy new year to you all, hope you had a pleasent one.

Im looking to know where could i get some really good orchestral synths, whether it be (preferably) free or have to pay some, but not too expensive!

Just had my last exam ever as a student so am still poor and struggling at the minute!!!

    Cheers ;)

Ah free VSTi synths...seems everyone's craving some good freeware, but I don't think any exists. You could do much worse than check out www.synful.com, they offer a free two-week trial.

I dont know about your budget, but garritan personal orchestra(you'll find it for about e100 on ebay maybe) is quite good..

I know this way outside your budget and completely pointless, but still...

I have Garritan GPO and am very happy with it. You can go onto the Northern SOunds forum and listen to usic composed and performed using just this sample library. You may be surprised!
IKmultimedia do Miraslav Orchestra (which I have some snippets of in Sampletank) which sound more "live" straight off the bat. They even do a SE version for about 100notes (maybe 200?).
After this the sky is the limit though. EastWest do a great orchestral VSTi and then you hit VSL.....
Some have demo's that you can download reduced sample sets to trial on your own system so if you can get those then they are worth it.

Hi, I have tried a few have the ewql symphonic :( thumbs down !! have the GPO which is passable on a few things depends on what your looking for?!? and what its for ?!?

Vsl is the big bad boy of it all but its 6k for the full deal ! and at the end of the day if your using strings in that bracket your gonna be getting a real orchestra to perform it for your project :)

I would say Garritan personal Orchestra will be the best alrounder :)

I'm very happy with Miroslav. But would love the VSL cube.
