Theres a program called backup utility in the settings/system settings menu.

It backs up everything on the hard drive ,not sure about games saves though.
If you use the backup utility program ,don't just wipe the data on the drive when your finished(restoring the backup). Delete the information from the backup utility menu.

Yeah you keep all your saves and game data when you use the backup utility, it also backs up any accounts, settings, photos, music or videos on the hdd.

I used it recently when I switched the hdd for a larger one.

My saves were fine ,I stuck in a 320Gb hard drive.
The drive has to be FAT32 ,I found a program to reformat any drive size to FAT32 through usb.
It only takes about 2 seconds to change it.

    Edit Linkage http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
