Tank not filling

Just noticed that the water tank in the attic is not filling up. The mains water is fine but the tank just dribbles in, would take a couple of days to fill at this rate. Nothing has changed regards valves opening or closing. The attic is cold but nowhere near freezing, thermometer says around 6 degress at the moment.

Anyone any ideas?

Is your ballvalve is opening fully?

Also, has the pressure at the cold tap in your kitchen sink dropped at all?

If the ballvalve is opening correctly and there is no pressure drop, then it is possible that there is something blocking the ball valve and it may have to be disassembled to clear it.

It is unlikely to be related to the cold spell as once water starts to trickle past a ice in a pipe then the full flow tends to follow pretty quickly.

Move the ball cox up and down a few times there most likely something stuck in the valve section
They can usually taken apart and cleaned but just as easily replaced

The water pressure has dropped a little bit in the kitchen now that you mention it.....could this be the problem?

It certainly could. Lower pressure might mean that you have reasonable flow at the kitchen sink but inadequate pressure to send the water up to the attic particularly if the house is 2 storey.

Did any outside pipes get burst in the frost somewhere in the vicinity? Are your neighbours having similar problems if you live in an estate?
