    Hi all,
I'm thinking of doing a bus tour of Europe during the summer with a company such as Top Deck tours. I will be travelling on my own and that's why I would like to go with a group like this to meet more like minded people. I've heard about Top Deck from some Australian friends of mine who found their tours brilliant. I'm just wondering if anyone on here might have done a tour like this before and could give me some advice etc?

    cheers,
    Lol

The thing with tours is that you never really get to meet local people and experience the culture properly. Or other travelers outside your tour group for that matter. Also i find them very restrictive. Sometimes you wanna stay in a place longer or see things off the tour schedule and it may not be possible. They're probably a good idea if you just wanna see as much as you can in short periods of time. I prefer traveling with freedom so the whole tour thing wouldn't be for me. suppose to each their own.

Hmmm yes you've made some good points there. A friend of mine has suggested interrailing and I must admit I'm kind of drawn to the fact that I could travel by night and sleep through most of the travelling. However I am slightly concerned about safety after some of the stories she told me of their experiences! The thing is it will be the first time I've travelled alone so I'm thinking a group tour might be the easiest safest option but then again I don't know :o Confused

Any advice from anyone whos done the whole interrail thing on their own before?

I havent inter-railed on my own before, but it would be really easy to meet people in hostels. Driving around Europe on a bus sounds like a nightmare to me. Id much rather go inter-railing and have the freedom to go wherever, whenever. Hang out in the common room in hostels and you will meet people.
