    Hey,

I'm off to Tanzania tomorrow for a three month trip. I am bringing a advent netbook with me. I copied all my movie collection from my main laptop onto a small external hard drive that i intended using to watch movies on when out there.

However, when I pluged the external drive into laptop there was no sound coming from any of the movies on the advent netbook :(

I'm at a loss as what to do now. Pain in the arse tbh. Can't figure out what's happening. Visual is perfect, but no audio.

Any of ye experts in the field have a solution asap?????

thanks in advance for any help.

    Carlo

If they're being played from the ext. hd then maybe you need to install the audio codec onto it also?

Sounds like a driver issue, just download one of those Codec Packs and instal. K-lite is a famous one - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm

Copy one of the files from the external drive to the internal drive and see if it plays ok, that way you can identify whether it's the external drive that's the problem. I reckon it's a codec issue and as mentioned klite pack or playing with vlc should fix.
