The first duathlon in the Wheelworx series is next Sunday, 18th Jan. Is this a normal duathlon event as in will it be on road? Or is it more cross county/ on grass where you would need a mountain bike or cyclocross bike?

    Cheers

Hoping to do the one in Feb..

Where do Tri Ireland stand on singlespeed bikes? As far as I know fixed gear are not allowed but are singlespeed?

I notice Triathlon Ireland still don't have the membership system sorted out. Does that mean everyone has to pay the one-day license fee even if they plan to get a yearly membership or are they planning to waive that?

I'm probably going to do the February one myself anyway so hopefully they'll have it sorted out by then...

Also does anybody know how much yearly membership is?

If you are holding off because of a one day licence issue I would't.

I'd imagine that one of two things will happen:

    * 2008 memership will be extended to include Jan 2009
    or
    * the system will be up in time.

I'm thinking of doing this next Sunday, any advice for a first timer? how to the transitions work? Starting to train for the Connemarathon 1/2 marathon so thought it might be a start, do a good bit of cycling too.

They updated a couple of days ago. Renewal is possible for those who were members in 2008 and new members will get reimbursed their one day license fee for tomorrow's race when they go for full membership (open from Monday)

Have been planning to do this, but now thinking I'll wait to see how much ice, wind or rain there is in the morning.
