A friend on mine is looking to buy a Bass Amp. I know nothing about bass so I thought I ask the lads here. To be used for practice and small gigs. Nothing too fancy as we are talking beginner. Price €3-400 max. Second hand an option. If you need music style...... loud guitar and drums.... not metal.

Can you give me some options?

I have the 2x10 version of this, and have found it good value for the price. Would be good for small gigs. Keep a close eye on "adverts.ie".

Here it is again as a 1x15

I have the 4x10 and I had the 1x15 one a while ago. Both are fantastic. If the music is gonna be loud then the 4x10 is going to be better. Fits in the back of a starlet if you let the back seats down :D

Musicmaker had a sale on the new Marshall bass amps recently, dunno if it's still going. I used one at a gig once, sounded fine to me.

Had the Ashdown Mag, good amp for the price. Have the ABM now, not overly impressed with it. Ashdown's customer service is pretty poor too.

Just curious what you find wrong with it. I also have the ABM and like it a lot.

Had a mag, was very happy with it. Moved up to a klystron and i love it, Although as said before ashdowns customer service = almost non existent.

I have a MAG 300 aswel, the 2x10 version and I love it. Ive gigged it once or twice, never had to use a mic or DI. Great for practice in the house aswel.
