Hey, few friends and myself are looking at heading to Vancouver this summer for 2 months. We are in the process of sorting out our visas. Anyone have any opinions on Vancouver? Weather? Nightlife? Working? Cost of living? etc
    Anything at all really..

Hate it or love it, tell me why..

I was thinking of going there for a while, This is a pm that someone sent me on another forum. He was an irish guy living there. Not sure if it will be of any good but maybe.

    [Hey, yea no problem.

Honestly, the irish people tend to just go wherever they can find an apartment, cause there is a high demand. It all depends on your price range, but downtown vancouver is the best place to live, its expensive though. Outside of that east vancouver/commercial drive area is fantastic too. The skytrain is right there and gets u downtown in approx 5-6 minutes. (Theres a casino downtown with about 15 tables). The best place to find apartments is craigslist.

In my year there we lived in 3 different places. All near commercial drive. And we payed 800 total per month for the first place (2 bedroom), 1050 per month for the second 2 bedroom and 1500 for the last place but there was 4 of us living there. Are u planning on going solo? If so you could find rooms on craigslist. for proly 400 cad dollars per month or so.

We got an account with Shaw internet and cable. Its about 40 dollars per month and with no fixed term. So you can cancel after 3 months if you want. Its insanely fast and never once died on me.

I can't really speak for Boston NY or chicago, I've only visited NY and it seemed amazing. I went on a J1 to california twice and loved that too. Vancouver has alot going for it. Great poker, you got edgewater casino, Starlight casino, river rock casino (biggest in canada),boulevard casino etc. it has a beach downtown and summer weather is good. you got amazing mountains around and if you go to whistler do stuff like huge zip lines, white water rafting, mountain bike trails.

The people there are nice, and the canada economy is pretty solid and there are lots of jobs around.

    Hope that helps somewhat.
Feel free to ask anything else /B]
