Ryanairs Ski baggage policy

Does anyone know the story regarding Ryanairs ski / baggage weight allowance - I cant seem to see a clear answer on their website

I ve booked skis with them and 1 checked bag. Are the skis in addition to the 15kg overall allowance or do both bags combined need to be below the 15Kg.

Also can I put additional items in the ski bag - i was thinking of wrapping the skis in clothing to protect them a bit.

Finally is there any problem bringing ski boots as hand luggage?

    Thanks

Just looked at their website and it says that your skis can be carried in addition to your checked hold luggage.

Usually when you check in skis it also covers the boots. I have only taken my skis with one low cost carrier (easyjet) and know that this is the case with them. Have taken them with other airlines too and this is always the case.

I would not take my boots in the hand luggage as some airports won’t allow it.

Ring them and get them to clarify exactly what is covered by you paying for carriage of skis. They also do not state any weight limit for the skis but again check with them.

    heres what i know:

Your boots will be fine on the plane, as long as they are in a bag that will fit in the little metal box thing that your hand luggage is supposed to fit in.

As regards your skis, they are not counted towards your 15kgs.

When it comes to fitting stuff in with your board/skis, generally you will get away with it as long as you aren't taking the mick.

I've put up some tips for using ryanair for ski flights on the champs website

Skis, boots and poles are included when you book carriage of skis with RyanAir.

I usually throw my fun skis in with my skis when going with RyanAir and they never check - its a large ski bag! You can throw clothes in it also and have done that also before.

There shouldn’t be a problem bringing ski boots as hand luggage - however and I'm sure this isn’t the case with you but about a year ago coming back from Tamworth Snowdome, in Birmingham security wouldn’t let me bring my boots through and I had to check them in "security risk"!!!!!!

I brought my snowboard with Ryanair twice last year.
It goes in as oversized luggage so it has no baring on your 15kg limit.
I put my boots, 2 jackets and 2 pairs of snow pants into the snowboard bag too and there was no problem.

I've combed their website, and they don't mention a weight limit for ski/board bags.

Aerlingus have a pretty strict limit for items like this

coming home from Salzburg yesterday on an Aerlingus flight i saw people with skis that also had stuff packed in aroun them but they didnt hav any other bag, i suppose it is a good idea. or else put two pairs of skis in one bag with clothes in an other between two of yous. i carried onmy boots but myself and my bf have decided if we do it again were packing the boots and bringing les clothes cause it was a pain in the ass!!! lol

They never weighed my board bag last time. Just put the tag on and sent me to Oversize.
Quantas included it coming back from NZ. Had to give a bag to another traveller to come under weight!
