    Just a quick question about fitday for anyone who uses it, I only started a few days ago to help on the food balance side of things.

    I had worked out that I had a daily rmr of 1850cals per day with no exercise (manual calculations from stickies and bodybuilding.com calcs), however when I entered my food yesterday totalling 1900cals it tells me that I'm in deficit of my daily intake which should be 2900cals?

    So my question is just how accurate is fitday?

    What is your height and weight? 1900 calories is very low for a man, im only 5"3 and 107 and i eat approx 2000 calories everyday to maintain this weight!

    6'1" and 78kg I thought that myself, that is the rmr.

    Work out your bmr with this formula

    BMR = 66 + (13.7 x lean weight in kg) + (5 x height in cm) - (6.8 x age) for men

    BMR = 655 + (9.6 x lean weight in kg) + (1.7 x height in cm) - (4.7 x age) for women

    And then mulitply by your activity level

    1.0 Sedentary
    1.2 Very light activity
    1.4 Light activity
    1.6 Moderate activity
    1.8 High activity
    2.0 Extreme activity

    The just use fitday to track exactly what you eat and ignore their cals reccomenations

    Yep, I get the figure of 1854 as a base as that was one of the calcs I originally used, fitday.com tells me 2900?

    Well it is an american site and they are rather larger then us europeans. I think you have a choice of which formula you use to work out your cals they do things in lbs there too so that might be the confusion. Though I do remember it having some strange number for my gf recently.

    The nutrtion side of it is bang on though

    To be honest i think that is way to little for a man, what is your activity level? Your body needs fuel, eating to little will not only make loosing weight harder but will also kill your metabolism!

    Take the Fitday BMR calculations with a pinch of salt. Also, if you put yourself in as "active" or "very active", do NOT add in any normal activities on top, only the really exceptional stuff.

    I've actually found that to make Fitday give me calorie burn that is anyway realistic, I have to enter myself as "bedbound" then just add in my activities. Fortunately, it has no problem with someone who is bedbound but cycles 20 miles a day.

    In real life, the only expert on your maintenance requirements is you. Spend an ordinary week writing down everything you eat and drink, then enter it all in Fitday and use the average. That's your maintenance calories, specifically geared to your lifestyle!

    Cheers guys, nope looking to gain some lean muscle if possible. Have been eating healthily, but since I've been using that it seems in the wrong proportions and prob not quite enough. Hence the reason I need to find an accurate rmr. 1000cals in a daily diff is quite a big gap.
