Medicine Vs Veterinary?

Hey guys, I have a slight problem, if you could call it that!

I am currently studying medicine, I'm in first year. I've been reading a few of the threads here about the future of the medical industry etc, about how there may not be as many jobs there for people in the next few years and all this. This brings me to my question, I have the opportunity maybe to switch into veterinary, I had always wanted to do vet more, I went for medicine in the end because I felt it was the safer career option, have I actually made the wrong decision? Is there more job safety etc in veterinary for the future?

Thanks everyone for any hep yo might have! :)

Medicine is still a safer career option. But if you prefer veterinary studies, then why not switch anyway?

Just put away the crystal ball for a moment and ask yourself what it is you like about each subject and why you prefer one over the other.

If you pick a subject you genuinely like, you will score better in exams, which will give you a better chance at getting a job, and you will enjoy your career more.

Neither job is going to be easy and the novelty of job security will wear off fairly quickly when you are on call or in a shed at two in the morning up to your elbows in a cow.

Lots of people would kill for your slight problem. Enjoy.

It is usually easier to get a history from a human patient than from one with four legs that may also want to bite you. If you don't mind being bitten try A & E.......

There's not much difference between veterinary and paediatrics. Really just parents get a bit more mental about their kids than their animals, but that's about it.
