ok - got about 25 pirate playstation games when i was on holidays, fairly cheap, include fifa 09, football manager 09, nba 09, call of duty- the new one etc etc, anyway they were for my brother, turns out his playstation 3 isnt chipped, stupid me.

so is it easy to get the playstation 3 chipped, could i do it myself, dont really want to do it myself, afraid id fek it up.

or does anyone with a chipped playstation want to purchase a fine selection of games......

Piracy is a crime, don't ya know!

Anyway, to my knowledge, there is no way to "chip" a PS3.

Why on earth would anyone want to buy pirated games? Also as said above I'm pretty sure there is no chip for the ps3, looks like you got jipped.

Can we just keep this thread going?
It's a great laugh, and should deter any future PS3-pirates. :D

Also, copyright infringement != piracy. But they don't want you to know the difference.

It would be funny to see how long it takes for sony to brick a ps3 that was up to no good.
Even with media sharing turned off ,they still probably know what stuff of theirs is downloaded illegally mp3's/movies on pc's etc.:D

Just out of interest, when you put this disks into your pc does it display any type of file or are they just blank?

Not since iTunes was released. And in what way is €1 the "same thing" as €70 (x25)? Sure it's theft, but I think we can all agree that there are grades of theft.

Anyway, the holier-than-thou attitude is really more of a "we're all posting here based on some accepted rules" attitude. One of those being that we don't discuss chipping/piracy etc. It's not a hard rule to follow, or an unfair one- our hosts could certainly face trouble for not enforcing it. There are plenty of other boards around if the OP disagrees.

Are you actually kidding me? We have 75% of the posts in this thread basically expressing delight at pirates getting what they deserve, or expressing delight that the OP was ripped off or pointless "inb4thelock". Then you come along and start splitting hairs over degrees of theft!?

Its one thing for the OP to make the mistake of posting what he did here, quite another to have to put up with the whole community taking the opportunity to enjoy his misfortune.

Let he who has never sinned throw the first stone I say, and unfortunately I highly doubt (whether people will actually admit it or not) that the majority of members on boards.ie have downloaded something for free at one time or another which they should have paid for.

Your allowed to judge him? Didn't know boards.ie membership gave you that explicit right-but hey-I guess theres no rule against it.

it's breaking a copy right not theft the company does not instantly lose €70 from the bank

other than at market has any one in ireland ever been done for downloading game , music or any thing

Maybe I can clear it up before it does get locked.
The seller is a pirate for selling these games without the appropriate permissions etc...
If the OP knowingly buys them and uses them, then he is infringing copyright also.

Wooaw nearly fell off my high horse there, anyway:

Of course we're allowed laugh at/make fun of/judge the OP. Sure we might all have done something naughty such as piracy in our time, in one form or another, BUT, and this is crucial, the vast majority of us have not come on here mentioning it and asking for tips.

Yes we can laugh at the OP - - - >>> Har har har.

Whatever about the legalities, discussing piracy is not allowed on the Games boards.
